The first standards.next of 2011! On this leg of our journey, we present to you an evening of talks about CSS3, to get you excited about the new features of CSS3, clued up on what you can do with it, and inspired to make more use of it in your own projects.

  • We'll have Opera good ol' boy Chris Mills giving an introduction to the whole night, and talking about some of the new selectors and other time saving features of CSS3.
  • Scouse web warrior Jake Smith from JP74 will then take the stage and give you the lowdown on CSS3 web fonts and other interesting bits and pieces that make typography on the web more powerful.
  • Opera agitator Patrick H. Lauke will then move things to a different gear, looking at CSS3 features such as media queries, which allow you more easily create responsive layouts that adapt to different viewing devices.
  • And we'll round the night off with the mighty Mike Byrne from Fudge, who will unveil some exciting techniques for creating better, more responsive UIs using CSS3 animation, transitions, transparency, and more.

Bring your laptop and code along, or just sit back, listen, and enjoy a cuppa on us. Make sure to stick around afterwards for a few well-deserved drinks at Common across the road.

This event is kindly hosted by MadLab. As always, it’s free for all to attend, but places are limited.
